Educated in Uttar Pradesh, Rakesh Tikait is a famous Indian farmer leader who has been active in farmer’s protests. He is the national spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union. He is the son of one of the most powerful farmers leaders in India, Mahendra Singh Tikait.
Rakesh Tikait is from Sisauli village in the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. He is the second son of farmer leader Mahendra Singh Tikait. He is married to Sunita Devi and they have two daughters. They also have two brothers.

During the farmer’s protest in India in 1993, Rakesh Tikait was one of the most prominent leaders. He was arrested and sentenced to jail. After that, he joined the Bharatiya Kisan Union.
